Dear Friends of Inisfada:

As winter melts into spring, Inisfada awakens with the hope and joy of all things being new. We will be completing our strategic plan and busy working toward its implementation. A feasibility/planning study will be underway measuring the retreat house’s capacity to raise significant capital so that your children and grandchildren will be able to taste the fruits of Ignatian Spirituality.

Thank you for your generosity during the Christmas Appeal. As we closed the appeal at the end of January, over $75,000 had been donated. If by chance, the appeal letter got misplaced or maybe lost under a pile of “to be taken care of” papers, you can still make that intended donation and we will apply it to an Easter offering for you.

Preparing for Christmas at Inisfada was well attended! Two hundred and fifty people came to ready themselves for the coming of the Child. We also welcomed over 260 to our first ever Christmas Brunch and Boutique as area florists decorated the retreat house rooms in a décor of days gone by.

The new year began with two men’s retreats, a woman’s retreat and our winter Zen retreat. What a way to begin 2008!!! We continue to look to meet the needs of the greater community as well as offer your organization the opportunity to use our facilities for a day, overnight or a weekend. Please call Carmela Bergman at extension 11.

Spring at Inisfada will be held this year on Sunday, April 27th. Our 8th Annual Golf Outing, once again to be held at Sands Point Golf Club, is scheduled for Monday, May 19th. This year our honoree at the outing will be Deacon Frank Bice. Frank’s selection is based on his dedication to the spiritual needs of the people of Long Island. We hope that you will make every effort to attend and/or support these two upcoming fundraisers.

On March 30th, St. Ignatius Retreat House is honored to welcome Msgr. Tom Hartman, Deacon Frank Bice, Detective Steven McDonald and Emmy Award winning producer and author Richard Cohen for a presentation, panel discussion, prayer, liturgy and social. The topic will be the Spirituality of Physical Challenges. You won’t want to miss it!! Just a word of advice….register early because seating will be limited.

As always, we are here to offer you, our St. Ignatius family, the tools and space to go deeper in your relationship with God. I encourage you to “ taste and see the goodness of the Lord” here at your home away from home. Also, I continue to ask you to give Inisfada away and share it with your family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Other people will want what you have…tell them where you got it.

Thank you once again for your interest and support and please know that our prayers are with all of you and your loved ones throughout 2008.

Blessings and Gratitude,
Don Holden
Executive Director
