Closing of Saint Ignatius Retreat House
Please click here to read a letter from board chair Bob Lynch to the Saint Ignatius community about the direction of the ministry and the closing of Saint Ignatius Retreat House as of June 1, 2013.
Dear Members of the Inisfada Family,
Attached is a letter from Father David Ciancimino S.J., Provincial of the New York Province, which I urge you to read carefully because it sets forth the results of the discernment process conducted by the Jesuits over the past year or so relating to the retreat ministry and their vision for its future promulgation.
While the outcome of the discernment process is not what we would have hoped for as relates to site selections for conducting the ministry in the future, we look forward on your behalf to whatever role the many members of our Family can play in that future as the new model for promulgating Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises in the 21st century unfolds.
As always we thank you for your generous and unwavering support of the Retreat House and its mission and on your behalf and on behalf of the thousands of souls who have passed through its doors seeking and finding spiritual nourishment and direction over the past 50 years, we will make every effort to make the closing chapters of Inisfada’s storied existence worthy of that support and dedication.
We will keep you informed of future developments as they occur.
Meanwhile, keep us and the future of the retreat ministry in your prayers and be assured of ours.
Most Sincerely,
FOR THE BOARD
Bob Lynch
Chairperson
