Biographic Sketches of Presenters for Spring-Summer 2008
Sr. Linda Fischer, ASC, is a professed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. She live in Lancaster, PA. She calls her journey in recovery as
"one of the greatest blessings in her life." Linda has been facilitating Serenity Retreats for the past three years and was here at Inisfada in February
2007.
Rev. Donald K. Hummel, D.Min, FAPA, a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark for 29 years, currently serves as Director of Ongoing Formation and Continuing
Education of Priests. He has served as a High School teacher, chaplain, and director of campus ministry in addition to several parish assignments. He has
extensive experience in leadership development and nonprofit management especially through his work with the Boy Scouts of America and the National
Catholic Committee on Scouting where he served as National Chaplain from 2001-2004. Additionally, he serves several Law Enforcement agencies as Chaplain
and holds the rank of Chief/Chaplain for the New Jersey Association of Chiefs of Police and was involved with post 9-11 counseling for Post-Traumatic and
Critical Incident Stress. He holds certifications as a Master Police Chaplain (lCPC), Instructor (New Jersey State Police Training Commission)
Thanatology, Pastoral Counseling and Pastoral Addictions Counseling. He is a member of the Guest House Advisory Board in Rochester, MN and the
International Conference on Catholic Scouting and Coordinator of the Priests Health Committee forthe Archdiocese of Newark.
Rev. Michael Holleran, was a Jesuit, and then spent 22 years as a Carhusian monk in the US, France and England. He now serves as a parish priest in the
Bronx. He is a long time student of Roshi Fr. Robert Kennedy, SJ, and was named Dharma Holder (teacher) by him in 2007.
Dot Horstmann has a Masters Degree in Spirituality from Creighton University and a Preaching Certificate from Aquinas Institute. She was a coordinator and teacher
for PFI. She is a spiritual director, gives retreats and days of prayer, and is an author.
Sr. Bonnie Kelly, CSJ, is a Sister of St. Joseph. She is a presenter of weekend retreats and Days of Recollection in 12 Step Spirituality.
Rev. James Martin, SJ is a Jesuit priest and associate editor of America, the national Catholic magazine. He is the author of several books, most
recently My Life with the Saints, winner of a Christopher Award, and A Jesuit Off-Broadway. Both books were named by Publishers Weekly as "Best Books"
of the year.
Fr. Donan McGovern, OFM is a Franciscan Friar from Holy Name Province stationed at St. Anthony's Shrine, Boston, MA. He is presently enjoying 34 years of
sobriety in AA and has been presenting these types of retreats for 29 years.
Rev. Joseph O'Hare, SJ, entered the Society of Jesus 60 years ago after graduating from Regis High School and was ordained a priest at Fordham University
in 1961. Part of his early training as a Jesuit scholastic took place in the Philippines, and later taught, both before and after his ordination, at the
Ateneo de Manila University. After returning from the Philippines in 1972, he joined the staff of America magazine and was appointed its Editor in Chief
in 1975. In 1984 he became President of Fordham University and served in that role for 19 years. In 2003, he rejoined the staff of America as an
associate editor.
Susan Stabile was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and currently resides in the Twin Cities in Minneapolis, with her husband and teenage daughter,
Elena. She is the Robert and Marion Short Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where she is also responsible for
presenting retreats and other programs of spiritual formation to the law school community. She speaks and writes extensively about questions concerning
law and religion, particularly about Catholic Social Thought and the Law. Susan received her training as a spiritual director at the St. Joseph Renewal
Center in Brentwood. During the summer of 2004, she participated in the Summer Internship in Retreat Direction at St. Ignatius Retreat House. She began
giving programs as a member of the adjunct staff at the Retreat House in the fall of 2005. Susan was formerly a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in
Manorhaven, actively involved in facilitating Children’s Liturgies and in serving as a lector and Minister of Communion. She also conducted First Friday
Eucharistic Services for the elderly and homebound for the parish and taught religious education and participated in Confirmation preparation there. She
is becoming an equally active member of her new parish in Minnesota, and has already offered Advent and Lenten programs there.

Carmel Boyle, a native of Ireland, is a renowned singer/songwriter and recording artist of spiritual songs. She holds a BA in Theology & Music
from Maynooth University and has worked in education, pastoral/retreat ministry and spiritual guidance. |
Jan LaBorne, is a graduate of PFI and a spiritual director. She has initiated prayer groups following the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, led
Scripture study groups and offered days of prayer. |

Carol Breslin is an RN and holds a BA in psychology and MA in Theology. Her experience includes psychiatry, Hospice, Hospital Chaplain and parish
ministry. She is a spiritual director and gives retreats and days of prayer. |
Jean Lynch teaches morality, sexuality and Christology at The Mary Louis Academy. She holds an MA in Systematic Theology from St.
John's University and an advanced degree in spirituality from Immaculate Conception Seminary. |

Rev. Joseph P. Calise, a priest in the Diocese of Brooklyn for 23 years, is Rector-Principal of Cathedral Preparatory Seminary and has been involved in
the Matt Talbot Retreat movement for 13 years. |
Rev. David McCallum, SJ was ordained in 2001 and served for a year on the St. Ignatius Retreat House Staff. He is currently studying for his
doctorate in adult leadership development at Columbia University. |

Helen Capano received Certification for Parish Leadership and Pastoral Care of the Sick from the Douglaston Seminary. She is a graduate of PFI , a
spiritual director and a staff associate. |
Maria McCoy, RSM, DMin, is an author and co-director of the Upper Room Spirituality Center, NJ. |

Kathleen Church is a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City. She is also an adjunct professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of
Social Science. |
Georgina McKee, an RN, is the founder and Director of Holistic Bereavement Services in Westbury. She is a staff associate. |

Rev. Joe Costantino, SJ received a BA in Philosophy/Psychology from NYU, an MA in Philosophy from Fordham, M. Div. and STL in Systematic Theology from
the Weston Jesuit School of Theology, MA. He joined the St. Ignatius Retreat House staff from 1989 to 1992 and was Executive Director from 1999 until
June 2006. |
Walter Modrys, SJ, currently Treasurer of the NY Province of the Society of Jesus, he served 3 years at St. Ignatius Retreat House, then became
director of the Jesuit Office in financial district until appointed Pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Manhattan. |

Angie Cruz, PhD, is the Business Spirituality Coordinator for the Philippine Pastoral Center of the Filipino Apostolate, Archdiocese of NY. She founded
the Institute for Spirituality in the Workplace, is the Assistant Coordinator of the VENI Program, staff associate and spiritual director. |
Sr. Thomas More, RGS, holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Fordham and doctorate in psychology from Pace University. Trained in
spiritual direction in England she is an adjunct, spiritual director and retreat director at St. Ignatius Retreat House. She also serves in the
Marriage Tribunal of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. |

Eleanor Drago-Severson is an Associate Professor of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, a developmental psychologist and author. |
Elizabeth Moss is a graduate of PFI and a staff associate. She is a spiritual director and a contemplative knitter familiar with the12 steps and
program retreats. |

Sr. Patricia Ann Dwyer, CND specializes in wholistic spirituality with emphasis on dreams, personality development and discernment. She has 20 years
experience training supervisors and spiritual directors and is director of Chrysalis and Sacred Space – Holy Listening. She is co-director of the
Center for Spirituality and Justice in New Rochelle, NY. |
Len Moss is serving in his fourth year on the Ministry Team. He has been spiritually active since the mid-1990’s and is a spiritual director. |

Sally Dacey graduated from the Pastoral Formation Institute and returned as a mentor and presenter. She volunteers at the INN shelter and in prison
ministry, consults for the LI Association of Aids Care and has experience with 12 Step programs. |
Deacon George Reich has experience in Marriage Preparation & Enrichment and Justice & Peace Ministries. He and his wife Linda are involved in
Ministry to Families. |

Rev. John Freund, CM, STL is an Associate Professor of Theology at St. John's University, has an S.T.L. from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland
and is a clinically certified member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. |
Linda Reich has an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a licensed massage therapist. |

Br. Joseph Gallagher is currently serving as an instructor in addiction psychotherapy at Molloy College and is also the director of the Pastoral
Center for Addiction Ministry, providing retreats for recovering persons and their families. |
Irene Rush Nolan holds a BS in Nursing, an MA in Public Health, and is an RN currently working as a Coordinator in Home Health Care. She is a staff
associate. |

Sr. Margaret Galiardi, OP is Associate Director of Homecoming, lectures nationally on Spirituality and New Cosmology, and is the author of Encountering
Mystery in the Wilderness: One Woman’s Quest. |
Rev. Bill Scanlon, SJ, is currently the chaplain at the Jesuit Infirmary at Fordham University. He has worked as a campus minister and spent 14 years
as a missionary in Nigeria. |

Rev. Robert Kennedy, SJ, author of Zen Spirit, Christian Spirit and Zen Gifts to Christians, teaches theology and Japanese language at St. Peter’s
College, Jersey City. He is a Roshi (Zen Master) and head of our Inisfada Interfaith Zen Center at St. Ignatius Retreat House. |
